Others We Remember

Leon F. Gaudette Sr, 96 of Taunton, passed away Friday July 8th peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his loving family. Leon was born in Brockton MA, on August 4th, 1925, to Wilfred and Louise Gaudette. He attended Brockton High School Class of 1943.

During most of WWII he worked at the Quincy shipyard until being called to service in July of 1945, beginning a 26-year military career.

He married the love of his life, Pearl Anderson on June 19th of 1949. They shared 70 wonderful years of marriage and had six children. They traveled extensively during his military career, eventually settling in Brockton MA.

After proudly serving our country through three wars, he worked another 10 years for the city of Brockton Highway Department before retiring to Melbourne Florida, where they lived for 30 years before returning to Massachusetts and settling in Taunton to be closer to their children.

Leon was a devoted husband and father who loved being near the water both fresh and salt, fishing, bowling, music, dancing, the Boston Red Sox, and above all spending time with his family and friends.  His quick wit and humor will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Brockton where he served as the superintendent of Sunday School for a number of years as well as helping out however else he could.  He made friends wherever he went and went out of his way to say hello to just about every person who crossed his path.  His smile will live in our hearts forever.
