Alva G. (Grahn) Canty, age 93, loving wife of the late Charles W. Canty, passed away Thursday March 24, 2022, at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater, after a long well lived life.
Born in Easton, MA, on Monday February 25, 1929, Alva was the daughter of the late Nils and Sigrid (Gustafson) Grahn. Alva grew up in Easton, MA, and graduated from Oliver Ames High School.
After she and Charles got married, they moved to Brockton, MA, where they settled into their first home and started a family raising two boys Michael and Jeffery Canty.
Alva worked for the former New England Telephone Company retiring as a supervisor. She and her late husband Charles attended and were members of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brockton. Alva was a huge animal lover, especially when it came to her dogs.
Alva is survived by her sons; Michael C. Canty and his wife Judith of South Easton, MA, and Jeffery N. Canty of Bridgewater, grandmother to Lauren Parker and her husband Mark, Meghan Kirk and her husband Matt, Allison Canty, Robert Canty and his wife Amy, Kristen Canty, and Michael Canty. Alva was also the great grandmother of Ashley and Alex Parker, and Vivi and Ella Canty, including several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Thelma Moberg.
A graveside service for Alva will be held on Thursday March 31, 2022, at 11:00AM, in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to MSPCA-Angell, by visiting www.mspca.org.
